“M-matt?” Jack asked and tilted his head. He was about to ask another question but the heart monitor’s stead beeping was starting to grow faint. This was it. This was where it ended. He choked back his salty tears and felt his heart drop 400000 feet. “Goodbye, my best friend. I’ll see you again someday,” he whispered and pressed his lips softly to hers in a bittersweet kiss. He felt her lips press back onto his own. But only for a moment.

As the heart monitor laid flat, in a flash Leda was gone. On her way to a better place,  she’d only hope to one day meet Jack again. The nurse from outside of the door peaked in and knew what had happen, she turned walked inside holding onto a small child. /”Excuse me…I know this is a bad time for you, but..she wanted me to give him to you. His name is Matt.”\ The older lady handed Jack the smaller child and stepped back. /”You’ll make a wonderful father my dear boy.” The woman let out a sigh and glanced over at Leda then back at Jack. /”You should take the young one home, we have to move her out of the room…I’m so sorry for your loss.”\ The nurse pat Jack on the back and walked out of the room.

Tears were falling steadily now, rolling down the guitarist’s cheek and hitting the floor silently. He was too young for this, this was something only older couples had to experience. Twenty-four was too young to be a widow. He was going to miss her like a boy misses his blanket. He would never live the same. The house would feel so much more empty, there would be nobody there to keep him company. There’d never be another cake batter fight. He’d stay locked up in his bedroom for months, wondering what things would have been like if she’d pulled through. He probably would never fall in love again, either. But he had to grow up, he had to suck it up and accept that this was the end. He had to let her go. “You can let go now, L-Leda,” Jack chocked, “you can move on. I-I’ll be okay. You’ll be in a better place. But I promise you that you’ll never leave my mind, ever. Do you hear me, Leda? You’ll always be there, in my heart. You can let go.”

The girl hated hearing Jack so upset, with what little strength she had Leda lifted up her arm and caressed the boys cheek. “I don’t wanna leave you…..I’ll always be with you, we’ll never be apart..” She forced a smile and nodded her head gently. “I hear you babe, I hear you….” Leda sighed softly and forced her eyes to stay open just for a little longer. “I love you Jackie….but promise me one thing before I go…take care of Matt.” That would probably confuse the boy, but he would sure find out what she meant. “And just one last thing…….kiss me.” Leda stared into the boys’ eyes, keeping her hand against his cheek.
